Each month, the Florida Academy of Audiology presents a “Member Spotlight” highlighting a member at random. For the month of February 2016, FLAA VP of Communications, Kari Morgenstein, had the pleasure of asking Alexis Riley a few questions about her audiology career. Here is what Dr. Riley had to share.

What university did you attend for graduate school and what year did you graduate? I attended Wichita State University in 2007.
Where do you currently work and what are your specialties? I currently work in an ENT practice performing both VNG and diagnostic hearing evaluations and hearing aid fittings.
Why did you become an audiologist? I became an audiologist with the desire to make a difference in people’s lives. My mother was a nurse and I loved hearing about how she served so many and how full it made her life.
What is your favorite part of Audiology? When my patients share how their improved hearing has enriched their lives or renewed connections with loved ones it solidifies that I’ve chosen the right career path!
Why did you join FLAA? I joined FLAA to network with other professionals at a local level that have different stories to tell about their experience so I continue to learn and evolve as an audiologist.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? In my free time, I can be found acting at the Vero Beach theatre guild, paddle boarding, camping, or relaxing at the beach.
