FLAA Legislative Alert – SB 0498 Passed Unanimously by the Full Senate Yesterday!

This is a tremendous victory, bringing us one step closer to having private insurance cover hearing aids for children! Our sincerest thanks to our Senators for their support and all of our members who supported this effort with their emails, letters, and calls.

Now that the bill has passed the Senate, our focus is on the Florida House of Representatives and their version of the bill (HB 0079). We are working diligently to get a hearing on this bill in the House and will keep the membership apprised of our progress. Please encourage all of those in support of this legislation to email House leadership as noted below.

Subject: Please Hear HB 0079

Speaker Sprowls, Majority Leader Grant, and Chair Burton,

For the last four years, Floridians all over the state have come together to help children access hearing aids. Now in its fifth year, the bill has never had the opportunity to be heard in the House. We understand that a compromise will need to be made, and we are asking for the bill to move forward in one committee so that we can work towards a solution that will give children who are missing out on the chance to hear.
