Members of Health Policy,

Please help Florida’s children access the hearing aids they need with a YES vote for SB 1268 Coverage for Hearing Aids for Children on Wednesday.

Hearing loss is a neurological emergency. Access to sound during the early years of neurological development is critical for a child to have the opportunity to learn to listen and speak. When families cannot access the hearing aids their children need, permanent neurological changes occur. The state bears the expense in the form of much more expensive and intensive special education and disability related costs for the rest of the child’s life. Families pay their insurance premiums expecting that medically necessary expenses for their children will be covered. This coverage costs insurance plans pennies per policy, but when they fail to cover pediatric hearing aids, it costs the state millions.

Please vote YES for SB 1268!

Thank you for your support,
