Important Update Regarding the FLAA Annual Convention

The Board of Directors for the Florida Academy of Audiology has been paying close attention to COVID-19 as it has rapidly escalated around the world.  As we consider the health and safety of our members and exhibitors, in addition to the challenges that they are facing with a limited ability to work at the present time, we have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to change the format of the 2020 Annual Convention to a virtual one.  The Virtual FLAA Annual Conference will be May 29-30, 2020.  Watch for further information about the program and format.

In addition to prioritizing the needs of our attendees, we also have the important responsibility of protecting the association from financial risk related to unpredictable conference attendance from both audiologists and the companies that support us every year in our exhibit hall. We are very fortunate that our hotel partner for years, the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort at Bonnet Creek, has allowed us to move our contract with no penalty to June 18-19, 2021 – please mark your calendar now for these earlier 2021 Convention dates which occur in your licensure renewal year!

That said, the 2020 year is far from over and the Board is now diligently working to provide you with a full slate of programming to meet your CEU needs virtually.  More information will be released on this shortly.  For now, please remove the July 23-24, 2020 Convention from your calendar and we certainly hope you will support your local academy by obtaining CEUs through our 2020 FLAA Virtual Conference coming to you in late May 2020!

Despite the very unfortunate circumstances leading to this change of plans, we see this as a unique and positive opportunity to transform the way our members access information and to encourage greater participation across the state.

We welcome your program submissions for FLAA Virtual 2020 (please click here to submit yours today) and feedback and suggestions as we make plans for the future during an unprecedented time. We send our best wishes to all of you around the world. Take good care.

Thank you,

FLAA Board of Directors
