Monica Barnes, AuD, CCC-A

What university did you attend for graduate school and what year did you graduate?
I attended the University of South Florida for both undergrad and graduate school. I graduated with my Au.D. in 2014.

Where do you currently work and what are your specialties?
I currently work in/on my own private practice in Temple Terrace, FL (my hometown). It is a dream come true. Specialties include: Adult and pediatric diagnostic testing, treatment/counseling and hearing rehabilitation.

Why did you become an audiologist?
I was originally interested in becoming a speech language pathologist. While in an undergraduate class, I saw a video of a parent saying that her child never heard her say “I love you” until she got her hearing aids. That really caused me to think about giving the gift of sound back to someone- I am very close to my parents and am so thankful that I was able to hear them say those words.

What is your favorite part of Audiology?
Bringing the good news to patients. I know that having hearing loss is not ideal- but I have hearing solutions. I have good news- I am able to help.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, my loving husband and my dog, SunnyBelle. I also enjoy shopping of any kind.

How can people contact you?
