Please tell us one thing that could be considered “Recent News” for your company.

Oticon has just introduced Oticon Opn™, a paradigm shift in hearing aids that combines breakthrough technologies proven to enable people with hearing loss to experience 20% less listening effort*, remember 20% more of conversations** and enjoy 30% better speech understanding.*

The newest BrainHearing™ solution from Oticon employs an ”open sound” approach that is powered by the ultra-fast and precise Velox™ platform to expertly manage multiple speech and noise sources, even in complex listening situations. The new OpenSound Navigator™ scans the environment 100 times per second to analyze and balance every sound individually. Environmental sounds are accessible but not disturbing.

With this open sound experience, Oticon makes traditional directionality – designed to focus on the main sound in front and suppress background sounds – a thing of the past. Users can now focus on a conversation while staying attentive to people and things around them and switch focus quickly and easily.

Oticon Opn is a hearing solution with a number of significant “firsts.” It is the industry’s first hearing solution to offer TwinLink™ technology – two wireless communication systems in one hearing solution. Power-efficient near-field magnetic communication (NFMI) is one dedicated system optimized for binaural ear-to- ear communication. Users enjoy high quality sound for better listening in all environments with very low power consumption. A second dedicated system uses 2.4GHz Bluetooth direct streaming for wireless streamer-free communication to iPhone® and other devices. Developed specifically for hearing aids, this variant of Bluetooth uses significantly less battery power when streaming.

Opn is the world’s first hearing aid that connects to the internet via If This Then That (IFTTT.com), a web service that automates other web-based functions to make life easier. Users can connect to a wide range of IFTTT-enabled devices used in everyday life such as door bells, baby monitors and thermostats.

In keeping with this year’s Convention theme, please tell us what you feel is the biggest “force of the future” for audiology.

From the simplest sounds to the most complex speech understanding and cognition, hearing happens in the brain. At Oticon, our audiological focus is to support the way the brain makes sense of the sounds it receives from the ears.

Oticon hearing solutions are equipped with BrainHearing™ technology to provide better hearing with less effort by giving the brain the clearest, purest sound signals to decode. The result is a more natural, effortless listening experience.

With hearing technology that makes it easier on the brain – like the new Oticon Opn™ — we make it easier for people with hearing loss to communicate and stay socially active, with less listening effort and more ability to remember what is being said.
