This year I attended the Florida Academy of Audiology’s annual convention, located in Orlando as a student volunteer. Conventions offer continuing education classes, interactions with vendors about new services and products, and discussions with other audiologists. One benefit to this convention being state level is deliberating on topics that relate specifically to Florida, in addition to national matters. Gardner Audiology sponsored my lodging, and as a volunteer, I was able attended courses that focused on legislation and raising awareness of hearing health. This gave me the amazing opportunity to meet many Florida audiologists, speak with the largest national manufacturers about the latest and greatest, and even demo new products. I am so thrilled I was able to attend the 2015 Florida Academy of Audiology’s convention. Not only did I further my education, but I was able to meet a lot of great people from all over the country. I am looking forward to volunteering next year at the FLAA convention and I recommend all my fellow audiology students in Florida do the same.
